Tencel is a completely biobased alternative to traditional satin ribbon. Made from a mixture of recycled clothing and fabric scraps, mixed with eucalyptus and spruce wood pulp, its a completely biodegradable alternative fabrics that's suitable for a range of applications. From tying bows on your products, stitching onto clothing, creating vibrant pull-tabs, decorating a seasonal basket. These ribbons are also a great way to decorate your brand's packaging by adding a personal touch that customers love.

Our Tencel ribbon has the look and feel of traditional satin ribbon whilst having excellent eco credentials. By owning and operating their own plantations, Tencel is able to closely monitor the impact of its growing operations across the world. Tencel reviews each plantation regularly to ensure they are held to a strict code of conduct, ensuring minimal damage to the local ecosystem by using eco friendly growing techniques and wildlife tunnels. The eucalyptus and spruce fibres create a soft, flexible ribbon and provide a strong material.

Tencel ribbon is a great example of modernisation in classic design, in this case with a sustainable twist. Tencel is certified by both the USDA and EU Environmental Commission, using a closed-loop system wherein old clothing and other scrap fabrics are mulched down with wood pulp before being mixed with a non-toxic solvent. The mixture is then condensed and fibres are extracted. Using this system increases the entropy of each individual ingredient, making it even more sustainable. Colour pigments are added to the mulch mix, where the colour binds itself to the fibres embedding a rich, deep colour that won't run or wash out.
